Residential Aide (Counselor Assistant)-PART TIME

POSITION TITLE:
Counselor Assistant- PART TIMEREPORTS TO:
Shift Supervisor / Program DirectorPOSITION
Summary:
Working in concert with the Shift Supervisor, provides general assistance and support to clients residing at the shelter and regularly monitors the safety and security of clients from the second to fifth floors, which includes the dormitory and bathrooms.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
o Work with clients around ADL skills such as laundry, cleaning, and organization of room, o Medication monitoring o Monitors clients to ensure dormitory property compliance as per DHS rules and regulations, o Regularly monitors the bathrooms to reduce the instance of clients smoking in these parts, o Strip beds when a room/bed is vacated, o Monitors the garden area, o Mandatory Callahan Attendance o Hold the New Clients to the 2-bag property limitation, o Retrieve and deliver client property as indicated or required, in accordance with procedure, o Distribute and collect linen for laundry service in accordance with procedure, o Responsible for food warming, and in the serving of breakfast, lunch / dinner, o Responsible for cleaning of serving utensils and pots, o Conduct bed checks according to procedure, o Turn-off lights in all dormitories, o Complete Incident Reports, Hourly rounds as needed, o Complete room check as needed, o Update logbook to foster greater and meaningful communication across shifts as needed.
o Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, o Meet with supervisor on regular basis, o Interact with clients to promote a friendly supportive but professional atmosphere, o All other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or other supervisory staff.
o Attend mandatory in-service annually o Participate in various committees and meetings as requestedPOSITION
Qualifications:
o High School Diploma or Equivalency with two years experience in counseling and/or a shelter system o HHA/ CNA or other Medical training preferred.
o Fire Safety Coordinator Certificate o Food Handler's Certificate o CPR/First Aide o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Ability to speak/write the English language o Bilingual Spanish PreferredJOB SETTING:
o Must possess sight, hearing and digital senses or use prosthesis that will enable the essential functions of the job to be completed.
